ATUNTRO

It is a company that has been dedicated to the fishing of tropical tuna since 2016, with purse seiners. 

The experience and knowledge accumulated throughout these years, together with the continuous modernization and innovation of its ships, allow ATUNTRO to deliver a high quality product so that it can be exported to all markets in the world.

It also has a refrigeration plant with a large storage capacity, which allows it to offer greater added value to its customers.

Sustainable fishing

The vessels of ATUNTRO carry out a responsible fishing and respectful with the environment, oriented to preserve the resource in order to continue with the voyage started several years ago.
Our activity is regulated by the Regulations of the International Tropical Tuna Commission, the most advanced in environmental and sustainability matters, with which we comply scrupulously.

ATUNTRO also complies with all the Recommendations and Resolutions of ICCAT and IOTC - the Regional Organizations of Fisheries Management of the oceans in which our vessels fish - that are adopted following the advice of their respective scientific committees.
ATUNTRO also actively participates in multiple projects in collaboration with AZTI-Tecnalia and several other organizations.

YELLOWFIN (YFT)

Common name: yellowfin tuna, yellowfin tuna
Scientific name: Thunnus albacares (Bonaterre 1788).
Family: Spooky.
Maximum size: 280 cm, normally up to 150 cm.
Maximum weight: 200 kg.
Maximum age: 8 years.
Food: fish, planktonic crustaceans (euphausiaceous), cephalopods.

Listado

LISTADO (SKJ)

Common name: listing, skipjack, cachurreta.
Scientific name: Katsuwonus pelamis (Linnaeus 1758).
Family: Spooky.
Maximum size: 108 cm, usually up to 80 cm.
Maximum weight: 35 kg.
Maximum age: 12 years.
Feeding: fish, cephalopods and planktonic and benthic crustaceans.

Patudo

PATUDO (BET)

Common name: bigeye, big eye tuna, ojigrande.
Scientific name: Thunnus obesus (Lowe 1839).
Family: Spooky.
Maximum size: 250 cm, usually up to 180 cm.
Maximum weight: 210 kg.
Maximum age: 11 years.
Feeding: fish, benthic crustaceans and cephalopods.

Bonito

BONITO (ALB)

Common name: bonito, albacore.
Scientific name: Thunnus alalunga (Bonnaterre, 1788).
Family: Spooky.
Maximum size: 140 cm, usually up to 100 cm.
Maximum weight: 60 kg.
Maximum age: 9 years.
Feeding: fish, cephalopods and planktonic and benthic crustaceans

Modern boats

We currently have 2 tuna boats.
These boats have the latest technologies in energy efficiency and freezing capacity, allowing us to obtain a product of the highest quality with the least environmental impact.

ENVIRONMENTAL

NON-ALLEGED POLICY

ATUNTRO does not allow on board of its ships the practice of shark finning, in order to stay with them and get rid of the lifeless body of the animal, returning it to the sea.

NON-HANGING PLANTS POLICY

ATUNTRO, committed to the environment, the protection of marine ecosystems and with the aim of maintaining the sustainability of our main raw material: tuna, has adopted the use of NON-ENTANGLING FAD'S CONNECTION DEVICES. This in order to reduce the incidental catch of sharks and turtles.

These devices will be built with biodegradable materials that do not alter the marine ecosystems, additionally it is committed to pick up any enmallante device that is in the sea and take it to port for its collection as waste.
